If you are looking to enroll at Trident Tech for school next year, you will need to complete an application and take a placement test.  You can take the (Compass computerized) test at Tech early this spring (Jan - March).   Just call ahead to schedule your test session.  The number is 574-6111.  You’ll also have to request to have a formal transcript sent from the guidance office.  To do this, stop by guidance and complete the form found on the counter on the right just inside the door to the records/registrar office.

Counseling seniors - credit checks

I have already had the pleasure of meeting your child while conducting a fall ‘credit check’.  The process will repeat after the conclusion of the first semester - - just so we don’t have any not so happy surprises as we approach graduation in June.  These items are part of my discussion with the student when we meet for the credit check.

  1. review transcript and accumulated credits
  2. on track to meet requirements for graduation?
  3. taken or palnning to take ACT/SAT?
  4. college –> post-secondary plan
  5. possibility for ‘free money’ for college (Commission on Higher Education)

The event is free and is sponsored by the SC Commission on Higher Education.  Officially named COLLEGE GOAL SUNDAY, see www.collegegoalsundaysc.org for more information.

Show Me The Money!

January 2, 2008 | Comments Off

Now that college and post-secondary school applications have been mailed, it’s time to turn our attention to funding the ‘next step’.  Students who earn a final GPA of 3.0 or better will be eligible to recieve tuition monies from the Commission on Higher Education.  Go to their website to read about how this works and to see if you are eligible to receive CHE funds.  http://www.che.sc.gov/  Money will also flow from the lottery funds to assist SC students with those tuition bills.    Go to this website and follow the Tuition Assistance link to the appropriate place: http://www.sceducationlottery.com/educationwins/money.aspx#

After that, other funding can be applied for.  In order to get in line for those most of those funds, a FASFA application must be completed.  This will be done annually and is based on tax documentation.
