What’s going on in class week of 9/8
This week in class we are working on more map skills and beginning our study of the Americas: geography, government, culture, economy, current events, etc. Students are writing journal responses several times a week–they will be collected at the end of the week. Journals for this week:
#1: Describe 10 things you should do or have to prepare for a hurricane.
#2: Rainforests in S. America are being cut down for roads, farming, housing, medicine, lumber, etc. Do you agree with this–why or why not? Justify your position.
#3: How has your life changed as a result of Sept. 11, 2001?
Homework for the weekend: study the N. America map for a quiz on Tuesday. Also, create a mnemonic device to help you learn the countries of S. America–due Monday in class.
