SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES - List 1
DAVIDSON SCHOLAR ATHLETES - Applicants should be top scholar athletes who are interested in attending Davidson University. If you are an athlete interested in attending Davidson please see your counselor as soon as possible. Candidates for this scholarship must be nominated by SEPTEMBER 10, 2008, and must complete an application to Davidson by SEPTEMBER 19, 2008.
Davidson offers two scholarships for scholar/athletes:
1. Bryan Scholarship - $30,000.00 annually;
2. Davidson Scholars – range of $2000 - $20,000 annually. Both are very competitive awards.
CLEMSON UNIVERSITY COCA- COLA SCHOLARSHIP - This is a $2500.00 per year scholarship that is awarded to the highest ranking minority student and the highest ranking non minority student from Summerville High School. Ranking will be based on the end of 11th grade. The student would have to apply and be accepted at Clemson University. Your Guidance Counselor will let you know if your rank qualifies you for this scholarship.
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA VALEDICTORIAN SCHOLARS AWARD - This is a $3000.00 per year award that is given to the student with the highest rank at the end of 11th grade. The student must apply for admission and be accepted at the University of South Carolina. Your Guidance Counselor will let you know if you are qualified for this award.
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS – These scholarships may be applied for through the University of South Carolina after you have been admitted.
- Carolina Scholars Award - $ 7000.00 – 10,000.00 annually. Eligible students will have taken strong academic subjects, have SAT scores of 1350 or higher (Verbal/Math scores only), ACT Composite of 30.
- Lieber Scholars Award - $10,000.00 annually. Eligible students will be National Merit Finalists, National Achievement Finalists, National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars based on PSAT scores. No application is required – students must be accepted for admission at the University of South Carolina.
- Alumni Scholars Award - $5000.00 annually. Awarded to freshman who have been admitted to the University of South Carolina with outstanding academic records, 3.8GPA or higher, 1350 SAT (Verbal/Math only), ACT Composite of 30.
- Trustees’ Endowment Scholars Award - $4000.00 annually. Freshman students admitted to the University who are academically talented and demonstrate financial need are eligible for this award. All accepted freshman students are automatically considered for this award.
- Dean’s Scholars Award - $3000.00 annually. Awarded to incoming freshman students with SAT scores above 1300 (Verbal & Math only) and ACT Composites of 29 or higher. Candidates should also have strong leadership skills and community service.
ANDERSON COLLEGE FIRST CHOICE SCHOLARSHIPS – These scholarships are available to students who apply for early admission at Anderson College.
- Denmark Scholarship - $4000.00 – 24 ACT Composite or 1100 SAT Math/Verbal; 3.8 overall GPA. Anderson University offers 25 of these scholarships.
- Warthin Scholarship - $3000.00 – 22 ACT Composite or 1050 SAT Math/Verbal; 3.4 overall GPA. Anderson University awards 50 of these scholarships.
- Rouse Scholarship - $2000.00 – 20 ACT Composite or 1000 SAT Math/Verbal; 3.0 overall GPA. Anderson University awards 40 of these scholarships.

WENDY’S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN SCHOLARSHIP – This award is for male or female athletes who excel in academics, athletics, and student leadership. Small cash awards are earned in each stage of this competition. Finalists receive $2000 and national recognition. Deadline for application is October 1, 2008. Applications are available on line at: www.wendysheisman.com
HORATIO ALGER SCHOLARSHIP – $ 2500.00 - $20,000 annually. This scholarship is for students who have overcome adversity, have strength of character, good academic record and demonstrate financial need. Students must be planning to pursue a bachelors degree at an accredited 4 year college or university. They must also be a United States citizen. Applications must be submitted online at: www.horatioalger.org/scholarships. Deadline for online submission is October 30, 2008. You must also get one letter of support from an adult who can verify the adversity you have dealt with – this support letter must also be filled out online. Download the certifications page and bring it to your Guidance Counselor.
THE GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS PROGRAM – Amount of Scholarship is based on level on need. This scholarship is offered to one thousand students nationwide based on the following criteria:
- Are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American
- Legal citizen or legal permanent resident
- Enrolling for the first time in a degree seeking program at a United States accredited college or university
- Have demonstrated leadership by participating in community service, extra curricular or other activities
- Meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility ( usually indicated by Free or reduced lunch status but confirmed but filing the FAFSA
- Complete all required forms by the deadline – January 12, 2009 at 11:59 pm.
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES – List 2
RON BROWN SCHOLAR PROGRAM - $10,000.00 per year – Applicants for this scholarship must excel academically, show leadership potential, and have community service experience. They must also be United States citizens or permanent residents and of African American decent. Twenty scholarships will be awarded nation wide. This scholarship has two deadline dates – November 1, 2008 for early consideration and January 9, 2009 as a FINAL consideration date. Your completed application will need to be turned in to Mrs. Toliver by October 27th for the November 1st deadline or by January 6th for the January 9th deadline. Semi – finalists will be notified in March 2009, winners will be notified by April 1, 2009. If you meet eligibility requirements, pick up an application from the rack.
SPARTENBURG METHODIST COLLEGE FULL TUITION OFFER – Full tuition (not Room & Board) at Spartanburg Methodist college for students with 3.0 GPA or higher. If you are planning to apply for admission at Spartanburg Methodist College and have a qualifying GPA, please see Mrs. Toliver as soon as possible.
UNITED STATES SENATE YOUTH PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP -$5000.00 and a one week shadowing experience in Washington D. C. Applicants for this scholarship should have an interest in public service, an understanding of America’s political processes, and an interest in political leadership. Students who register for this scholarship will take a written examination in October. The top thirty scores on the examination state wide will compete in an essay contest in November. Winners will be notified in early December. There will be two winners from the state. Interested students should pick up a registration form from the scholarship rack in Guidance. Registration forms MUST be returned to Mrs. Toliver by September 26, 2008 – no exceptions to this deadline.
SOUTH CAROLINA TEACHING FELLOWS - $6000.00 per year for four years for students completing a teachers training program at one of the South Carolina Teaching fellows Institutions. Award decisions will be based on academic achievement, references, community and school involvement, an interview and writing assessment. Recipients must agree to teach in a South Carolina public school one year for each year of the scholarship. Applicants for this scholarship should be legal residents of South Carolina, a current high school senior planning to begin college in the fall of 2009. APPLICATIONS ARE ONLY AVAILABLE ONLINE. S.C. GOVERNOR’S COMMITTEE ON EMPLOYMENT OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES JORUNALISM CONTEST – This scholarship offers full tuition at for any state supported college or university. Eligible students must be a South Carolina resident between 16 – 19 years old; must be enrolled in either 11th or 12th currently. Students who want to be considered need to complete an essay based on the theme – “America’s People…America’s Talent…America’s Strength!” The deadline for submitting entries is January 20, 2009. Entries must be turned in to Mrs. Toliver for mailing by January 16, 2009.
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES – List 3
United States Army ROTC Scholarship – This is a four year full tuition college scholarship that leads to a commission in the United States Army. To be eligible students must:
- Be a United States Citizen
- Be at least 17 years old
- Graduate from High School
- High School GPA of at least 2.5
- Minimum SAT Score of 920/ACT Composite 19
- Must take a Presidential Fitness Test

2008 SAE Engineering Scholarships – Range from $1000.00 - $10,000.00 for undesignated scholarships or $400 – full tuition for University sponsored scholarships. These are scholarships for students planning to enter Engineering Programs at accredited colleges or universities. Some are undesignated (they can be used at any college with an engineering program) and some are designated (can only be used at specific colleges and universities). If you apply for a scholarship designated for a particular college or university, you must also apply for admission at that college or university by January 2009. To be eligible for the SAE Engineering Scholarships a student must:
- Be a high school senior
- Intend to earn a degree in engineering or related science
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Meet the minimum requirements for GPA, SAT/ACT scores for each individual scholarship applied for
- Complete all portions of the application and submit it by December 1, 2008.

2009 John F. Kennedy Profiles in Courage Essay Contest – This is an essay contest open to all high school students in the United States. To enter this contest, students must write an original essay on the political courage of a United States elected official. First Place winner will receive - $5000.00 and a trip to Boston for recognition; Second Place winner will receive - $1000.00; Five finalists will receive $500.00. To register and submit your essay online, go to the Profiles in Courage Program website at: www.jfklibrary.org.
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES - List 4
AXA ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP - $10,000 - $25,000 SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED. One AXA scholarship award will be made in each state. Applicants for this scholarship should have outstanding achievement in school, community or the workplace. Applicants must:
- be United States citizens of legal residents,
- be current high school seniors planning to enroll in an accredited two or four year college or university by Fall 2009,
- demonstrate ambition and self-motivation evidenced by an outstanding achievement in an activity at school, in community, or the workplace,
- be recommended by an unrelated adult who can verify the student’s achievement
Students may apply online at www.axa-achievement.com. Online applicants must be sure to print page 5 and have your adult recommender complete it and print page 6 for the counselor to complete. Pages 5 and 6 must be returned to Mrs. Toliver prior to the post mark deadline. Hard copy applications are available on the rack in Guidance. If you complete the hard copy application, pages 3 - 6 must be returned to Mrs. Toliver in Guidance prior to the deadline. The deadline for return of applications to Mrs. Toliver is December 12, 2008.
NAVAL HELICOPER ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND - $2000 - $3000 Scholarships. Applications may be submitted by any high school senior planning to attend an accredited college or university. Special consideration is given to students with any military affiliation. Applications must be completed online at: http://ismene.lunarmania.com/~nhasc0/nhascholarshipfund/
CONVERSE COLLEGE CREATIVE MINDS CONFERENCE – This conference will be held on November 8, 2008 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. The conference is for female students interested in attending Converse. Participants will be offered top scholarships at Converse College if they apply for admission and are accepted. For registration information go online at: www.converse.edu/creativeminds
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES - Lists 5 & 6
BURGER KING SCHOLARS - $1000.00 for the first year of college. This scholarship is available to all eligible high school seniors. Eligible applicants should have:
- Final GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Part time for an average of 15 hours per week
- Community Service involvement
- Demonstrated financial need
- Plans to enroll in an accredited two year or four year college, university, vocational or technical program by fall 2009.
Applications must be completed online at: www.bk.com/scholars Use the ACCESS KEY: BKS. The application window is open from September 15, 2008 – February 2, 2009. Please follow the instructions and print out the cover sheet and return it to Guidance. Your official transcript will have to be sent in with the cover sheet.
UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND SCHOLARSHIPS (UNCF) –Range from $1000.00 to full tuition – UNCF offers numerous scholarships for students of African American or Caribbean heritage. Go to www.uncf.org. There are numerous online applications located at the website. Apply for those that you meet the criteria for. Remember to print out transcript requests and submit those to Mrs. Toliver in Guidance before the scholarship deadline. General requirements for eligibility for UNCF scholarships are:
- 2.5 – 4.0 GPA
- Must file the Federal Free Financial Aid Form
- Must have unmet financial need at your college or university
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES SCHOLARSHIPS – The Ronald McDonald House Charities sponsor scholarships through four organizations –
- Asian Students Increasing Achievement (ASIA) – Scholarships open to students with at least one parent of Asian decent;
- Hispanic American Commitment to Educational Resources (HACER) – scholarships open to students with at least one parent of Hispanic decent;
- African American Future Achievers – scholarships open to students with at least one parent who is of African American or Black Caribbean decent; and
- Ronald McDonald Charities Scholars – scholarships open to ALL students.
Students who apply for RMHC Scholarships should:
- Be seniors in high school
- Be younger than 21 years
- Be a legal resident of the United States
- Live in a RMHC participating area
- Complete applications prior to the deadline

Yes I Can! Scholarships for Special Education and Disabled Students – range from $500 - $2500. Apply for any that you meet qualifications for. You will find applications online at: http://www.yesican.org .
COCA –COLA SCHOLARS – Four year scholarships ranging from $2500.00 - $5000.00 per year. Scholarships may be used at accredited four year colleges and universities. Eligible applicants must be:
- Current high school seniors attending school in the United States
- US Citizens; US Nationals, US Permanent residents; Temporary Residents in a legalization program; Refugees; Cuban-Haitian entrants; or Humanitarian Paroles
- Anticipating completion of a high school diploma during 2008 – 2009 academic year
- Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited United States College or University
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the end of their junior year
- MAY NOT be children or grandchildren of employees of the Coca- Cola Bottling Company or any subsidiaries or divisions.
Coca-Cola will award fifty $5000.00 per year scholarships and two hundred $2500.00 per year scholarships nationally. Applications must be made online at: https://www.coca-colascholars.org . SCADA NORTH/SOUTH GAME QUEEN SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST – This contest is open to senior girls who plan to attend a four year college or university. There is an entry fee required ($40.00) to compete for this scholarship. The winner will be crowned Queen of the North South Game in Myrtle Beach and will receive a $1000.00 Scholarship. Two runners up will be crowned Game Princesses and will be awarded $500 each. Applications much be RECEIVED by November 15, 2008. Copies are available on the Scholarship rack in Guidance.

KITTIE M. FAIREY EDUCATIONAL FUND SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Amount of scholarship varies – This scholarship is offered to aid students who have financial need and meet the academic guide lines. Eligible applicants should:
- Be high school seniors enrolled in South Carolina High Schools
- Be South Carolina residents
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the end of their 11th grade year
- Have a combined SAT score of 1800 (include writing score) or a composite ACT score of 26
- Combined household adjusted gross income of $40,000 or less
- Be planning to attend a South Carolina College or University beginning gin the fall of 2009

If you want to have an application sent to you call (866) 608-0001 or email a request to leahwhiddon@bellsouth.net. These additional materials will need to follow your application – official transcript, SAT/ACT scores, letter of recommendation, personal statement, copies of pages 1 & 2 of parents Federal tax Form 1040 and W-2 forms form last year. All additional materials will need to be turned in to Mrs. Toliver in Guidance by November 21, 2008. The deadline for submission of the application and all required materials is December 1, 2008.
SOUTH CAROLINA JUNIOR GOLF FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP – Amount varies – This scholarship is offered to deserving students who meet the academic criteria. The guidelines for eligibility are:
- Be a senior in a South Carolina school or undergraduate in a South Carolina College or University
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale at the end of 11th grade
- Be a resident of South Carolina
- Have a competitive or recreational interest in golf
- Must attend an accredited public or private four year college or university in South Carolina
Applications may be submitted online at: www.scholarshipprograms.org. Click on “view site” and then scroll down the list to South Carolina Junior Golf Foundation. If you do not have access to a computer, call (864) 268-3363 to request an application. If you apply online please request a transcript from Mrs. Toliver by November 21, 2008. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES- List 8
PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS - These scholarships are based on academic achievement and are awarded to students planning to attend Presbyterian College. AWARDING OF SCHOLARSHIPS IS BASED ON A RE-CALCULATED GPA SCALE USING A FOUR POINT SCALE FOR CORE ACADEMIC HIGH SCHOOL COURSEWORK.
QUATTLEBAUM SCHOLARSHIP - Provides full tuition, room and board for four years at Presbyterian College. Two scholarships will be awarded based on grades, minimum recalculated GPA of 3.85; SAT score of 1350 or higher/ACT Composite of 31. Application to Presbyterian College must be completed by November 15, 2008.
FOUNDERS SCHOLARSHIP - $32,000.00 ANNUALLY - This scholarship is available for South Carolina residents who qualify for the Early Award group of the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship who have a minimum of 1300 on the SAT or 29 Composite on the ACT.
GENERAL ACADEMIC And LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS - Amounts range from $500 - 8,000 - Students who complete applications to Presbyterian College by February 1, 2009 will be screened for these scholarships.
HIGHLANDER SCHOLARSHIP - $16,000 ANNUALLY - Students considered for this scholarship should have a minimum SAT score of 1300 or ACT Composite of 29; recalculated GPA of 3.7 or higher. Application to Presbyterian College must be complete by February 1, 2009.
BELK SCHOLARSHIP - $12,000 ANNUALLY- students considered for this scholarship will have a minimum SAT score of 1200 or ACT Composite of 27; recalculated GPA of 3.5 or higher. Application to Presbyterian College must be completed by February 1, 2009.
MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS - The Dorothy C. Fuqua Music Competition requires special application and audition. Application forms and more information may be found at : www.presby.edu/music. Deadlines for applications and all supporting information is January 10, 2009. Other Music Scholarships ranging from $750 - $5000 per year are available by audition. Information on these scholarships is also available at the website.
DAVIDSON COLLEGE John Montgomery Belk Scholarship - $42,950 annually plus a $3000 summer stipend. Each high school may nominate ONE student two is making application at Davidson College. Application must be complete by December 1, 2008 to be considered. Nominations for the Belk Scholarship must be received by November 15, 2008 - if you plan to apply at Davidson, please see Mrs. Toliver as soon as possible.
UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA - Jefferson Scholars Foundation. $40,473 annually as a merit based award. Each high school may nominate one student. The nomination must be made by November 3, 2008. If you are planning to attend the University of Virginia, please contact Mrs. Toliver as soon as possible.
ERSKINE COLLEGE PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP - This scholarship covers tuition, room, board, and fees for students planning to attend Erskine College. Candidates will be considered based on academic achievement, Christian Commitment, leadership skills, community involvement, and creativity. POST MARK DEADLINE FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION IS NOVEMBER 1, 2008. Candidates selected to compete for this scholarship will be notified by November 15, 2008. Candidates will interview at Erskine College of December 5, 2008.
MCKELVEY FOUNDATION ENTREPRENEURIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $10,000 ANNUALLY for up to 4 years. To qualify for this scholarship students must:
- be on track for graduation from high school in 2009
- planning to attend a four year college in the United States
- own and operate a genuine business - either for profit or non-profit
- have at least one employee
- complete the online application by JANUARY 25, 2009.
Applications may be completed online at: www.mckelveyfoundation.org. Click on the Entrepreneurial Scholarship section to complete the application. You will be asked to provide the phone number and email address of your Guidance Counselor as part of the application.
JOHNSON C. SMITH UNIVERSITY GOLD SCHOLARS PROGRAM - Full scholarship including tuition, room and board, laptop, and books. Five Gold Scholarships will be awarded to students who plan to attend Johnson C. Smith University. Eligible applicants should:
- have an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
- have SAT score of 1000 or higher or an ACT composite of 24 or higher
Applications should include a 2-3 page personal statement about what characteristics make you a Gold Scholar, two recommendations from principals, counselors, or teachers at your school, and an official transcript. Personal statement and recommendations need to be submitted to Mrs. Toliver by December 1, 2008.
TOYOTA COMMUNITY SCHOLARS – 100 scholarships valued at 10,000 and 20,000 annually awarded nationally. Eligible nominees should:
- Be high school seniors with a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Be a US citizen, US national, or US permanent resident
- Plan to pursue an undergraduate degree at an accredited four year college or university in the United States.
Interested students should complete the nomination form and return it to Mrs. Toliver by November 21, 2008. Nomination forms are available on the scholarship rack in Guidance.
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES – List 9
COKER COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS - Competitive scholarships based on academics, leadership and extra - curricular activities. These scholarships are available on a first come, first served basis for students accepted at Coker College.
Honor’s Scholarship - up to $10,000 awarded to South Carolina Palmetto Fellows recipients.
President’s Scholarship - up to $8500 per year. Eligible students will have a final GPA of 3.5 ( B+), SAT minimum of 1000/ACT minimum composite of 21
Dean’s Scholarship - up to $7000 per year. Eligible students will have a final GPA of 3.0 (B); minimum SAT of 925/ACT minimum composite of 20
Coker College Grants - range from $3000 - $6000. These grants are awarded based on academic merit or demonstrated financial need.
Valedictorian Scholarships - $2000 ($500 per year) award to students ranked number one in their high school class at the end of their junior year.
Alumni Heritage Scholarship - $500 per year awarded to sons and daughters of Coker College Alumni.
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA - AIKEN - University Achievement Scholarships - $2000 per year. Three scholarships will be awarded to Summerville High School students. Eligible students should:
- Be planning to attend USC - Aiken
- Rank in the top 25% of the senior class
- Have an SAT of 1050 or higher or ACT composite of 22 or higher
- Have a 3.75 cumulative GPA on the South Carolina Uniform grading Scale
This scholarship is renewable as long as the student stays enrolled full time and maintains a 2.9 or higher GPA in their freshman year. If you are interested in being nominated as one of the three SHS candidates, please notify Mrs. Toliver. You will need to have applied at USC-Aiken and meet the above criteria.
MY FUTURE IN COTTON SCHOLARSHIP - $1000 per year. Nine scholarships will be awarded based on an essay competition on the topic “My Future In Cotton”. Students who compete for this scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.8 n a 4.0 scale
- Be a high school senior who will graduate in 2009 and plans to enroll full time in an accredited two or four year college or university
- Be involved in agriculture or agricultural organizations
- Live in a cotton producing state (South Carolina is included in this group)

ELKS NATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP – Four year awards ranging from $4000 per year to $15,000 per year for students who are attending four year Colleges or Universities in the United States. Applications are available on the rack in Guidance. Completed application will include:
- 2009 Application completed and with all signatures
- Typed essay on one of the three topics given – no more than 500 words

- Parents financial statement – 200 word statement summarizing the family’s obligations, resources and needs
When you have those items completed, bring the entire packet to Mrs. Toliver. She will complete the Counselor Report, add your transcript and mail the application. All completed packets must be submitted to Mrs. Toliver by December 18, 2008.
GEORGIA SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY – out of State fee Waiver totaling $9,582.00 per year. Eligible students should meet these requirements:
- Be incoming freshman graduating from high schools outside of Georgia
- Have a GPA of 3.2 or higher
- Have an SAT score of 1100 (Math and verbal only) or ACT Composite of 24 or higher
Out of state students interested in being awarded a waiver should apply to Georgia Southern before December 1, 2008. You should indicate on your application that you want to be considered for the out of state waiver. If awarded the waiver is renewable for all four years as long as students maintain a 3.0 GPA.
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES – List 10
ARCHIBALD RUTLEDGE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - These scholarships are sponsored through the State Department of Education and are available for study in Drama, Creative Writing, Music, and Visual Arts. Each is worth $3500.00. Applicant will compete for scholarship funds in one or more of the four disciplines. Based on the size of Summerville High School we may submit 8 entries in each categories. Students who plan to compete for this scholarship will need to decide which are they will compete in. Visual Arts students must:
- Submit one original composition and a process folio
- Art submissions are limited to two dimensional work
Creative Writing, Drama, or Music, students must:
- Submit one original and two copies of the original composition and a process folio
- Creative Writing submissions may be sonnet, lyric, or narrative poetry not to exceed one page
- Drama submission should be a short one act play with a performing time of 25 - 45 minutes
- Music submission should a 3 - 5 minute solo or small ensemble of vocal or instrumental music
All entries must be post marked on or before February 2, 2009. Students may pick up applications from the rack in Guidance or apply on line at: http://ed.sc.gov/topics/scholarships. If you want your application and entries to be mailed by Mrs. Toliver, all items need to be turned in by January 26, 2009. If you are mailing the packet yourself, make sure you meet the post mark deadline.
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE NATIONAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM - This scholarship provides full tuition, summer employment, fees, books, room and board for four years. Scholarships are offered to students planning to major in agriculture, food science, agricultural engineering, natural resource sciences, agri-business/management, botany, crop production and related fields. Applicants must be U. S. citizens seeking a bachelor’s degree in one of the related fields at an 1890 Land Grant Institution; must have a final high school GPA of 3.0 or higher; 1000 on the SAT (math & verbal only) or 21 Composite of the ACT. 1890 Land Grant Institutions in our region include:

NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR COOPERATIVE EDUCATION - This scholarship is available for students planning to attend Johnson & Wales University. Thirty scholarships of $6000.00 per year for up to four years are available at Johnson & Wales In order to qualify students must apply and be accepted at Johnson & Wales; must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Applications are available on the rack in Guidance. Other Participating colleges are listed on the application. Applications must be retuned to Mrs. Toliver in Guidance by February 2, 2009. EARLY APPLICATIONS ARE ENCOURAGED.
ADMIRAL JAMES B. OSBORN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - $500.00 scholarship available for children, grand children or siblings of United States Submarine Veterans. Eligible students must submit an application and 400 word essay to Mrs Toliver by November 24, 2008. Materials must be postmarked by December 1, 2008. Applications are available on the rack in Guidance.
