October News

Greetings from the Academy! You should have already received the interim reports halfway through our first quarter. Teachers of students who are failing a class also conferenced with students individually and helped them formulate a Student Improvement Plan. These should be signed by the parents and returned back to the teachers.

The end of the first quarter is October 23rd and report cards will be issued after final grades are turned in by teachers. This is the time for students to be getting help in tutoring. Each teacher comes early or stays late at least one day per week officially. Unofficially, most teachers are here early AND stay late every day! Please click here to see the tutoring schedule (this is also placed at EVERY Academy teacher’s door).  academy-tutoring-calendar.doc

Please continue to encourage students to attend every class on time and ready to learn! Their participation in class is essential to their success! Students who are skipping class are regulary caught, which results in disciplinary action. In class is the BEST place!!

Upcoming Dates:

Wednesday, October 15th: Early dismissal date. Freshmen will be completing the Hollands Assessment which will help them discover the careers for which they show the  most aptitude and interest. All team homerooms will be following up this assessment with a career based activity. Students will be in homeroom from 1st through 3rd periods and then have 4th through 7th with 21 minutes each in order to serve lunch. School will dismiss at 12:00 pm.

September News

Posted on September 4th, 2008 in Uncategorized by kselander

Well, the year is off to a great start! Congratulations to this year’s freshman class–they are getting to class on time, behaving in class, and learning a lot!! Having lockers and team classes near each other seems to be paying off!! (Thanks again for everyone’s patience at the Freshman Orientation in August!) Intouch passwords should be mailed home soon so parents can access student grades/attendance/discipline online. If there are questions before then, please contact teachers directly via email.

Student work is ongoing and is assessed continuously. If a student begins to fall behind, we have a great tutoring plan in place to help out asap! Students are encouraged to attend tutoring–they can go to any Academy teacher, not just their team teacher. Please click on the tutoring schedule below to see when tutoring is available. We have it for all core subjects almost every day in the morning before school AND in the afternoon.
