Rome Test 3.12.09

Students will test on Ancient Rome on March 12, 2009.  The Review Sheet will be given out on the 9th of March.  The end of the quarter is coming, please have your students study hard as many need to pull their grades up!

Week of 3.9.09

Next week we will conclude our discussion on Christianity and finish up with the fall of Rome.  We will then have a lecture that summarizes everything we have done and the students will complete a review sheet.  Their test will be on March 12th!

Christianity 3.4.09

Students will begin to study the beginning of Christianity.  We will begin with a graffiti board to see what students already know and then follow that with a discussion.  Students will read and discuss Ch. 6, Sec. 3.  Their notes will consist of one to two sentences that summarize each section.  On Friday, the students will have a sub and will need to read the primary sources (portions of the Bible) that deal with the rise of Christianity in Ancient Rome.  They will use a reading technique to study primary source and pick out the important information.

Gladiators!!!

Students have been studying the Colosseum and Roman Entertainment.  Notes were collected for a grade.  If a student has missed this section please have them complete p. 182 in their textbook by answering questions 1 and 2.

Projects

We will be working on our quarter project on Friday in the computer lab.  Students have all handouts regarding their project.

Due March 18th.  No late projects will be accepted for any reason.

Moving to Christianity

Students are learning to take notes in a variety of fashions.  After we discuss culture and have a lecture covering both the beginning and the culture of Rome we will move on the Christianity.

I want to make it clear that I am in no way converting any student to any religion, including Christianity.  It is a state standard and students will be tested, read primary sources (portions of the New Testament affected by the civilization of Rome) and participate in discussions.  Students are not to put down other students for their religion and respecting others and their beliefs will be respected by all students.  Any action that is not respectful of others will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
